Danielle Sea - Whips Your Hair Back

November 18, 2016

Danielle Sea is a master with hair. I welcome  her as my hair stylist expert on my blog team.  I first met her while I was with a friend who was always looking for the hottest cut.  I watched Danielle give her a flawless look with expert perfection and immediately, I knew she was the one for me.

This maven started out as a fashion model but quickly recognized that her passion lay in being behind the camera and expressing her creativity through hair . A master with cuts, colouring and styling, she strongly believes hair is an intriguing medium.

Educated at The Aveda Institute in Toronto, she immediately found her calling for editorial work.  She entered and won the Aveda 2013 Runway Competition for students after only a few months in the industry, which came as no surprise.  With  ties to both the USA and Canada she was able to experiment with all types of hair .

With talent like this it's easy to see why she was quickly snatched up by an award winning celebrity hair stylist,  the one and only Jason Lee, to be a part of his team at his luxuriant hair hot spot The Jason Lee Salon in Toronto.

Being a woman, I of course asked this artist a few important questions:

Q. What are the hottest hair trends of the moment?

A. 1) Texture : blunt ends with lifted layers

    2) Natural natural natural: using clients natural base and illuminating her face with contoured baby lights (fine highlights). Or for               those who are naturally silver, using a cool-toned base color.

    3)  Sleek middle parts, with both done and undone texture.

    4)  I am seeing a return to more solid colors with gentle tone-on-tone highlights (good bye harsh Ombre)

Q. What are your favourite hair brands ?

"Can't live without my:  Ibiza brush, their boar bristle nylon hybrid brushes have a heat resistant carbon fiber and they grip on to every strand for amazing control. Their handles are made of cork, making the brush extremely lightweight and easy to maneuver"

"My secret weapon: Oribe Dry Texturizing spray. I use this invisible spray on the mid-lengths and ends of my volumizing or beachy wave blowouts. It adds the perfect amount to define and texturize, without weighing down the style you worked so hard to achieve. I love that it also absorbs oil at the roots without a powdery residue. Its formulation has both protein and vitamins, to strengthen and nourish your hair and scalp while you use it and it's perfect for all hair types"

Aveda men’s grooming clay which I use for women too. A matte, pliable clay, this product works to control those small hairs on the hairline, adds some grip when braiding, smoothes ponytails without adding a greasy shine and of course, how its meant to be used, for adding volume and light hold to men’s hair. It’s rich scent of Kunzea, citrus, and certified organic essential oils of spearmint, vetiver and lavender is amazing on all hair types "

"Current obsession: F. Miller hair oil

Made small batch in Toronto, the active botanical skin and haircare line, F. Miller hair oil has 14 botanicals, which are consciously sourced and cruelty-free.  This product is light enough to be used every day on your ends, wet or dry. But what I really love is using it as a deep treatment from roots to ends overnight. The combination of oils soothes and balances my scalp, while nourishing my ends, making them so soft. I feel better about using something directly on my scalp for that amount of time, knowing that it is free of synthetic fragrances and colorings, harmful preservatives, sulphates, parabens, phthalates, PEG’s and SLS’s"
